Rym Yessad's journey with curly hair

The French entrepreneur is the founder of a startup concept called Curlshops.com which is an e-shop specialising in natural haircare products and hair accessories that are tailored to curly and wavy hair.

She used to wear it straight throughout her teenage years. When she was in her 20s, she felt confident enough to part ways with chemical straightening treatments, heat styling tools and learnt to embrace her natural curls.

Rym has since completely stopped using chemical hair dyes and products with harmful ingredients such as sulphates or silicones for more than10 years.

Over the past seven years, she has worked with some of the biggest global beauty companies such as L’Oréal and Sephora, which made her realise the importance of reading labels on haircare products and picking the ones with ingredients that won’t cause harm to the hair or scalp.

Even though wearing her hair curly at work at huge multinational companies was a challenge, Rym never gave up on her curls as they seemed to make her personality stronger over the years and helped her gain more confidence.  That’s when the Curlshops.com was born.

She wanted to help all curly haired women gain their confidence back, respect their own natural beauty and to never be ashamed of their curls and ultimately wear them with pride.

As a mother of twin girls with naturally curly hair, Rym found it extremely crucial to teach her girls to embrace their natural beauty at a young age and adopt this philosophy as a new way of life.

The e-shop offers a wide range of naturally based products from the US, France, the UK and Italy to name a few.  Curlshops.com also boasts its own range of accessories and the website includes a blog section to help women reconnect with their beauty and start their natural journey, one step at a time.

Rym has many projects planned in the pipeline for Curlshops.com in Q4 2020 and 2021, with a real vision to create a community of women from all age groups, nationalities and backgrounds to guide them through their natural hair journey.
