Film Review- Malang

Malang is set in the Bollywood’s  ‘go-to’ destination, Goa and does give us the stereotype of the beach destination - drugs, night parties, crime and of course the sea.  ( From the credits, it appears the film was shot in Mauritius as well though the story never travels there.  Wonder if Goa has lost the sheen for film makers travel to foreign locals to feign Goa!).  It’s a rehash of cliches you have already seen in many Bhatt factory flicks of yore.  Cardboard characters (it’s not clear what the vagrants - rough translation of ‘Malang’ - are running away from or the source of finance for the opulent lifestyle!) roam around, kill at will and consume drugs as if no tomorrow.. it’s a meaningless mayhem on the screen.  Here police also use drugs as a means to subjugate criminals or to settle personal agendas!!

As a whole,  surfeit of substance abuse without any substance!  The intake is not intoxicating, but boring☹️2/5
