Short Story Entry - She lived like a gypsy.

Tales of gypsies were her favourite when she was really young. She grew up dreaming the life of gypsy, the wonderland of lush green, birds chirping, children playing around.

She was fascinated to imagine tribes moving on from one place to other constantly. It thrilled her to sense routine full of freedom and excitement a gypsy lives.

The amusement stayed with her all along and that formed the core of what she became over the time. She moved from places to places. Sometimes to make a living while at times to accompany the journey of one she loved. But it was never a compromise for her. It was never an adjustment. She loved seeing new places, meeting new people, exploring new cultures. She loved learning new languages, new culinary, new patterns of interactions. The life brought her freedom and excitement she envisaged although it was not always simple and pleasant. Times did test her patience. Times did test her determination. Her choices were questioned. Her skills were doubted. Nonetheless, she stayed strong and made her every voyage as best as she could. People were seeing her explorations whereas what she was seeking, in reality, was the realisation.

She was born to couple who was trying hard to meet the ends. The struggle for food and clothes was so dominant that it unknowingly took away what it takes to raise a daughter. She grew up in company of good books and bad people. The combination was strange and so was the impact. She could see, hear, sense and do bad things staying good within. Her morale and caliber remained strong to take her where she belonged. She graduated and pursued her career with seemingly perfection. Her parents still wondered if she could ever get settled in life as she never failed to break a norm meant for a girl. She went for studies no one chooses after coming in distinction list of school. She chose career which do not pay off well at all. She was liberal in her words and actions alike. She could fear nothing. She made sure not to depend on bank balance to count her success. She was content with the smiles she could bring on faces of people around. This could have easily taken her up to be a leader. She refused to be the one. She preferred moving on from places to places.

She married a man who did not only love her but did almost everything to keep up with her untraditional lifestyles also. Not everyone is that lucky. She was. They made perfect couple out of endless imperfections as individuals. He was hesitant to aim high but she showed him the thrill in dreaming of something larger than life. She was not equipped to expand her horizons but he taught her skills to survive the new heights. She wasn’t alone now to make choices to make world envy them. They travelled places together, they explored different avenues and they took chances. But they lived every ounce of it together. Their careers didn’t take them to places; they chose the paths wisely, rather whimsically. It was enriching journey, although it wasn’t without a price. Some choices proved right while some failed miserably. Some people helped them while a few took the advantage. They lost over money matters, they fought over priorities but they helped each other flourish even during the darkest hour. They didn’t give up because their bond was strong enough to hold on. They made living a carnival, a carnival of wondering the lands.

Millions of people travel. Some for money while others for passion. She also earned while she went from places to places. It was her passion too. But her journey was never mere migration for work or simple picnic. She knew she was there for reason. She made a point to touch the lives of people she met on the way. She made a point to contribute positively. She made a point to give away the best of her aura. She did it for innumerable children in need of care. She did it for people wishing right guidance and leadership. She did it for students who longed for better perspectives. Her professional being could never fall short to reach out and help those in difficult situations. And her personal life also remained cheerful with friends and family. This all did not happen without a phase of failure and doubt, a phase of confusion and chaos. She just had one rule to live every moment. Rule to have no regrets. That’s what dreaming of gypsy life taught her. She did everything she believed in. She embraced mistakes, she accepted the flaws but she denied even the slightest of suppression of freedom and liberty. She lived like a gypsy.
