His Majesty King Hamad yesterday held a telephone call with US President Donald Trump, who commended precautionary measures taken by Bahrain to combat the coronavirus, the GDN reported today.
President Trump also stressed the US’ readiness to provide any assistance to tackle the epidemic.
The King thanked President Trump and reassured him about Bahrain’s success in containing the virus at this stage.
His Majesty also offered heartfelt condolences to President Trump and the American people over the death of US citizens due to the outbreak. He stressed the importance of international co-operation to overcome challenges.
The King commended US-led efforts to maintain security and stability in the region and the active role of the American military forces to protect the international maritime corridors in the Arabian Gulf, Arabian Sea and Bab Al Mandeb Strait.
He also praised President Trump’s efforts to stabilise energy markets which support global economic growth.
The leaders discussed relations of friendship as well as means of further bolstering co-operation in all fields.
The US President expressed deepest thanks to the King for his sincere feelings, reiterating his country’s keenness to strengthen US-Bahrain relations and work together to maintain regional security and stability and protect global interests in the region.
The White House later issued a statement saying that “the President and the King will continue to work together to defeat the virus, minimise its economic impact, and focus on critical regional issues”.
“The President thanked the King for Bahrain’s strong support for efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East, and for hosting the United States Fifth Fleet,” it added.

Trump cannot even help his own country, whereas Bahrain is doing a stellar job helping us all.
