MORE than 100 people have been caught violating the rules concerning face masks introduced earlier this month, the GDN reported today.
The information was provided by Public Security chief Maj Gen Tariq Al Hassan in a statement last night.
“Community police conveyed to people the importance of wearing face masks before the rule was implemented,” he said.
“Since the introduction of the rule we received more than 100 offences of people breaking the rule. People should only go out for important daily activities and should keep in mind social distancing.”
The GDN reported on April 9 that people who do not wear face masks will be fined BD5 on the spot for every offence.
However, should they fail to pay then their case will be referred to the Public Prosecution.
The decision was issued on April 9 by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
