Quarantined for life

All this news on COVID 19, quarantines and immune systems reminded me of a movie I watched in 2001 called Bubble Boy.

That movie is loosely based on the tragic life of a young boy named David Vetter. He was born without an immune system, a condition known as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID).

Vetter became known as "The Bubble Boy" after he was placed in a germ-free plastic bubble that he lived in for 12 years. When he died at age 12 after an unsuccessful bone marrow transplant, public awareness of his condition waned.

Nearly 10 years later, his story became fodder for pop culture with programs like "Seinfeld" and "The Simpsons" doing their own versions of "The Bubble Boy."

Now, babies who test positive for SCID can be given bone marrow transplants and have a chance of normal, productive lives.

I have attached two videos that report on his life and condition as well as the movie trailer for Bubble Boy in cases any of you guys would be interested in watching the movie.
