The notorious pandemic Covid-19 has thrived in every walks of life where pedagogy is not an exception. Today every parent/instructor is worried about the present educational scenario.
In most of the existing social media platforms, the discussion goes like: "Will my children be able to study through online classes?" - "What are the varsities/board up to?" - "Will this method turn out effective?" - and the queries go on.
Despite putting our heads onto the questions and limitations, it's better to pile up the possibilities.
Pandemic is not a new phrase in the retro of history. HIV Aids, Cholera, The Black Death (Plague), and many are also among the list of pandemics that gripped the lives of millions. A glimpse of history reveals that crises and disasters have continually set the stage for a change.
The varsities/ boards are trying hard to change the in-class teaching into an e-learning process so that the academic won't get unsettled.
The exertion of teachers is not as apparent as you see in the online classes. Most of the teachers/instructors are naive to digital platforms like WebEx or Zoom; still, the commitment and concern about the social-emotional well-being of their students keep them in motion.
We are under the notion that the teachers harmoniously accomplish their tasks; on the contrary, they work hard to balance between professional life and personal life.
With the help of support systems, they try to master the digital platforms so that they can effectively present their classes. In the traditional learning method, students may get adequate help from peers or instructors in solving daily assignments. But in the case of virtual learning, this molly-coddling will be truant, which in turn will invoke a practice of self-learning and self-motivation among students.
Now with the spread of the pandemic, Covid-19 imposing its isolation, Newton's miracle year is touted as a model.
Sir Issac Newton, who was a student of Trinity College Cambridge, has to return to his home as the plague began to spread wide.
Newton was very keen on his studies, so he continued his research on the force that held planets in orbit. When he was lying down under an apple tree, an apple falls, his thought behind the energy that made an apple fall, eventually lead to the 'Theory of gravity.'
Keeping an urge for knowledge, students can go along with the current educational system holding on to the tools - self-study and self-motivation.
Rather than bothering about pandemic or whining about the resources, let parents may focus on triggering the minds of their children towards education in a creative method.
The higher authorities of varsities or boards have a greater responsibility to plan out the academic in a very delicate manner.
Focusing on possibilities rather than limitations, let us swear ourselves that abiding by our authorities' instructions, we (Parents, Teachers and children) will get through this pivotal period of the pandemic.
"Change yourself before change changes you."
