Baloo's Just One Can Pet Food Appeal receives boost from Lulu

At the end of a long day when Baloo and I were just slipping into the land of nod, our friends and supporters from Lulu Hypermarket called to say:

“We’ve heard about Baloo’s Just One Can Pet Food Appeal and we’d like to help. We'll donate BD500 worth of pet food. Could you collect it this week?!”

And, then I fell off the sofa!

"Really? That would be fantastic!" was my response.

Lulu Hypermarket is well known for their support of animal welfare groups in Bahrain, hosting for example Bahrain’s first Pet Carnival at the Galleria Mall in 2018. So it's only natural that they have stepped up to help those that are the most vulnerable and can't speak for themselves:

A quick call to the BSPCA and BARC (the new centre continuing Tony the Dogfather’s work) revealed that both are in need of pet food. So a mix of dog and cat wet and dry food was swiftly on its way to them.

Lulu's donation of BHD500 worth of pet food is equivalent to more than 1,600 cans of food which brings the total number of cans collected by Baloo to close to 2,000 - WOW! I can’t tell you how happy I am. I'm sure the animals at the BSPCA and BARC will appreciate the food!

All animal rescue groups in Bahrain are struggling to care for their charges due to restrictions on fundraising activities following COVID-19.

Sadly, there are a never ending line of mouths to feed.

Individuals can donate to Baloo’s Just One Can Pet Food Appeal until 30 June 2020 at The Bookcase - Budaiya Highway, Delmon Boarding Kennels and Cattery – Barbar, Saar Kennels Pet Hotel & Spa – Saar, Bed & Biscuits – Al Burhama and RIA Institute Adliya.

Please call ahead to check EID and COVID-19 opening times of your chosen drop off point - don't forget to wear masks and wash your hands after your donation.

The food will be distributed to all groups. Prior to today's donation, the Just One Can Appeal has donated to Askar Dumped Dogs, Rescat, BSPCA and BARC.
