Five virus deaths, 438 new Covid-19 cases registered in Bahrain on Sunday


MANAMA: Another five Covid-19 fatalities were registered in Bahrain yesterday, along with 438 new cases and 736 recoveries. 

A 48-year-old Bahraini man and four expatriate men – aged 37, 44, 48 and 58 – died from the coronavirus yesterday, taking the death toll in the country to 83. 

The Health Ministry revealed that of yesterday’s 438 new cases, 279 were expatriate workers, 150 contacts of local cases, and nine travel-related. 

It said that an additional 736 people recovered from Covid-19 yesterday, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,517. 

The ministry added that of the total 5,105 active cases, 74 are receiving treatment and 41 are in critical condition. 

Bahrain has so far registered a total of 25,705 cases including active cases, recoveries and deaths.

The kingdom has also conducted 536,516 tests for Covid-19.
