VIDEO: Lulu 'enhancing the shopping experience'

A leading hypermarket in Bahrain has made a 30,000sqft addition to its total area as part of efforts to enhance the customer experience.
Customers visiting LuLu Hypermarket at Dana Mall will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of new experiences such as an in-house flour mill, sushi station, live cooking station, extended deli section and much more.
“LuLu Hypermarket, Dana Mall has become bigger by 30,000sqft,” LuLu Group International Bahrain and Egypt director Juzer Rupawala said.
“We have added this extension as part of our ongoing development of renovating and making our stores modern, as part of the evolution of the group.
“Customers expect a positive change and we are always upgrading to make sure that we keep rising to their expectations.
“We have brought in bigger segments like bakery, cooked food, roaster, a flour mill, deli section, sushi section and our frozen range.”
The extension is just phase one of the “new look” of LuLu Hypermarket, Dana Mall.
Mr Rupawala expects the entire hypermarket to be renovated in the next three to four months and changes will be incorporated phase-by-phase so as to not disrupt customer convenience.
The company says the new design is a product of years of research by a team of in-house designers who have been studying customer needs and product placement.
“Every time a new store opens, we bring in some new feature and, in the case of this outlet, the new feature in this phase one, is the Grains and Flours,” he said, referring to the in-house flour mill where customers can purchase their grain of choice by weight and get it freshly milled at the hypermarket.
This new addition to the hypermarket will provide customers with a wide range of organic grains as well as lesser-known millets and customers can even choose the fineness of the milling to suit special recipes.
“We believe that for customers today, it is no longer about just pushing a trolley in a hypermarket. Customers want more when they enter a store,” he said.
To accommodate the influx of additional shoppers, the hypermarket has also provided more checkout counters bringing the total number to 27.
Mr Rupawala said LuLu Hypermarket’s engagement with the people of Bahrain is an ongoing process and that it will continue to introduce regular attractions to “bring the best of Bahrain to its stores and customers”.
“We will bring the country’s top bakers and chefs and we will have a signature menu on certain days where the customers will get to enjoy their creations,” he added.
“The LuLu journey in the Kingdom of Bahrain began at Dana Mall in 2007 and we are humbled at the warmth with which the Bahrain customer has welcomed us and facilitated our growth to eight hypermarkets across the country.
“As part of the economic promise of our chairman and managing director Yusuffali M A, we have transformed our first hypermarket into a place where customers can find variety, quality and a reflection of the latest retail trends.”
A spokesperson for the group said that the next phase will see a much larger department store on the second level.
