5th June is celebrated as world environment day by the United Nations to encourage awareness and action towards protection of the environment.
Taking a step further towards this action, Srinkhala- an online community of people launched a month long ' Environmental awareness campaign' from 5 th June, 2021.
Srinkhala is an online community founded by two friends, Rekha Utham and Usha Ramesh in an endeavor to create binds linking people and art in an experiential journey across lands, languages,genders and race. Joined by Nisha Kotwani they make a formidable team each bringing their own expertise to curate events that shares experiences, share stories to inspire and learning to enrich the journey called life.

The campaign was inaugurated with a talk on Minimalism by Mr. Kai Miethig who is the Founder of W-AI-STE, wastrepreneur, ecopreneuer, inspireneur, edutainer and speaker in conferences on environmental awareness. Till the 30th of June, every Monday and Thursday from 4 pm to 6pm workshops, webinars & activities are going on to promote action towards environmental protection.
This campaign aimed to raise and spread awareness in people of this Island to enhance sustainable living and representing the importance of protecting nature and its resources. Designed with various activities like talks on waste management, recycling, upcycling, art and educational sessions, Ayurveda, protecting plants in harsh summer of the deserts, gardening tips, identifying medicinal plants etc. etc.
We also included an ECO- CHAMPION CONTEST to encourage all the people of this Island and the participants to encourage and inspire to take initiatives and actions on sustainable living and share and set an eco- conscious mindset in all of us.
We are greatful to all who supported this campaign in various ways. Dr Sarah Clarke who supported us with all media connect, Mr Kai Meithig who supported us in many ways, Mr Anil Sharma, who connected us with some artists and all the guest speakers who joined us.
On 30 th June, 4-6 pm (GMT+3), we have a talk on ' Environmental Degradation' by Prof. Dr Hirok Chaudhury, and an announcement on ECO CHAMPIONS along with an overview on the best initiatives taken during this campaign, the tips to follow in future and several innovative ideas that supports the aim of this campaign.
