The Chamber Of Death

Night came like a spell from an enchantress, extremely cold and eerie, leaving no hint of warmth and hope. Tumultuous black clouds covered the vanquished stars and moon as thunder and lightning announced an impending rainstorm. The coldness around me was unbearable, the type which reached deep inside my soul as if my body was wide open for icy wind.

A shiver ran down my spine as gusts of whistling winds penetrated through the measly protection of my clothes. There were no signs of any life around me. The road in which I stood was soo old and ancient that it was impossible to walk without tripping. The road which must have once been full of boisterous children playing around and full of life was now surrounded by dilapidated and derelict buildings  Ignoring the panic accumulating inside me, I took in a deep breath and entered the lifeless area.

Abandoned, dilapidated and ancient were my only word to describe the scene.

Putrefying trees permeated either side of the garden, their emaciated branches reaching high on the sky life the fingers of witches. Their trunks were hunched and crooked, so fragile and enervated as if they have lost all the hope to carry anything.

The most cryptic thing about the garden was the dead bodies of putrefying animals here and there. Some of them were stabbed by knives, others covered by scars.

"Who would do that?" I questioned myself. "Why would someone do that?"

The questions befuddled my already daunted mind as I tried to make sense of the inscrutable mystery. I shook my head to clear all the horrifying thoughts and made my way towards the entrance.

I slowly stepped inside the house letting in a deep breath to calm my rapid heartbeat. As soon as I pushed open the door, a pungent smell that permeated the air entered my lungs. Stifling a cough I made my way toward a room. The windows rattled vigorously from the howling wind, as though they were about to fall out of the frames which were made from rotting wood being eaten away by woodworm.

The room had an eldritch vibe that made my skin prickle with fear, increasing my heartbeat with perturbation and trepidation. In the center of the room was a huge mirror which was fully scratched by what seemed like animal claws and there was some preposterous gibberish written on it.

There was something very cryptic about the mirror. It reflected the luminescence of the moon but the vanquished moon was cowering behind the ominous clouds.

As I made my way toward the mirror I saw a shadow moving behind me. Instantaneously the shadow grabbed my hand and in the mirror, I saw the most hideous creature ever. Against all my instinctual impulses I turned around and came face to face with a deadly creature who didn't take a second to slash my chest.

I collapsed on the ground, screaming with pain and terror, feeling myself being dragged inside the deepest part of the house before a soft, painless feeling spread throughout my body and I felt myself drifting far away from the earth.
