TALL & PROUD by Fanoos Jose , 26 yrs (Adult)

As the sun is moving towards the brim of earth and the energetic sunlight reflects the atmosphere of City Manama bringing a new good Saturday morning.

My alarm keeps on ringing like crying infant. I wish in my mind “oh god it should be Friday” which is public holiday in Bahrain and I can throw my alarm and sleep peacefully.

I could hear the sound of quick feet and yawning of my roommates and in my mind, I was joking that they too are thinking and wishing it should be Friday so they all can sleep like a baby.

Last night I arrived from India after receiving a job offer letter to work in Bahrain, the land of pearls.

I really miss my comfy bed and freak room back in India and afraid to realise that I am in a foreign country and the time flew fast.

My roommate Abdul is screaming to me to get up "lazy boy or you will be late for your first day at work” and told to “forget your Indian habit here all is different” and gave a piece of advice “you came to sweat and earn here “

With all might my lazy body rose from bed and just thought about my mom calling me for work and wished she was with me to support and felt I am a grown-up guy came for work and money in a foreign country and should use the maximum opportunity which most of my friends couldn’t get.

After chill shower and dressing, the pop ringtone of my phone was ringing and it was my mother, with all excitement and thrill I ran towards my phone to speak to my mother.

“MAMMA” my voice shivered and from the other end of the phone I heard “GOD BLESS YOU MY SON” my mama merrily asked how was your morning without me and laughed and said I am proud of you son.

My tiny hairs in my arms stood up and replied back mama ”without you I am nothing, thank you for being a good mom.”

And after talking for 5 minutes, she encouraged and blessed me to do well at your first day at work.

Excitement approaching every minute and feel nervous in my first day of my work as I steeped outside of my room the air started being thinner.

I was saying to myself, all is well, use this opportunity and started walking briskly towards the Manama pathway and compare to building in India typically Bahrain was neat and very much organized.

The towers, hotels and flat amused me and felt like I am in New York and thanked God for all that happened.

On my way walking towards my job location that too my first day at work, the HR has sent me the Google map location.

As I gazed towards my phone confused walking through the maze of the Manama Souq desperately to find the office location, where the sun was scorching and I was sweating.

Well, the souq was noisy with different national’s pedestrian and the shops were vibrant.

In midst of congested Souq surrounding, from up I noticed a beautiful masterpiece building, which shines and glazes on me from the northern shore of Manama.

The classic architect and piece by piece construction was electrifying and pleasing to young man like me born in Indian village.

And deep in my greedy mind thought whoever is working in that stunning building will be very rich and influence person and all the people working in Manama likewise me will be in merely dreams to work there.

After coming back to the reality still now I am in the souq and unclear the way to my new job office apparently with tiredness after roaming in the market in search of the office where Google map is not helping me and keeping me in capsized.

After losing all my hope to find out the office and suddenly I halt, on the right side of the platform there was a short-sized shop keeper selling Arabic magazine with smiling face.

With all my strength I approached him and asked to help me find the right path to my office, and showed my phone then he gratefully again smiled and inspected my phone location carefully and pleasantly told me it’s the “BAHRAIN FINANCIAL HARBOUR” and pointed his little fingers right to the magnificent building I have seen ever.

With amusement that was the building I was starring during the way and was numbed and don’t know how to express the feeling that my office is inside that gorgeous building where many dream to work.

Like my mother said to me today morning “God bless you, my son” and this “BAHRAIN FINANCIAL HARBOUR is the blessing to this beautiful Manama city.”
