A milestone in Bahrain Football History was achieved at the end of June with the first ever GCC/Bahrain player having tryout training sessions with a German Bundesliga Team.

This milestone was achieved through out the great team work by key people who were involved like Winfried Schaefer, a legend of German Soccer, player and coach of Borussia Moenchengladbach and Karlsruher SC, Rainer Bonhof, the vice president of Borussia Moenchengladbach, Eugen Polanski, their U23 coach, Moussa Gaspers of Sport Circus International and the HE Abdulla Abdulatif Abdulla from the Bahrain Embassy to Germany in Berlin on the German side and Muharraq Club, Bahrain Football Association, Sportnaa Football Agency and Kai Miethig from WAISTE and of course the German Ambassador HE Clemens Hach of German Embassy to Bahrain from the Bahrain side.

On  June 25th, Khalid Abdulrahman, Chairman and Founder of Sportnaa and Mubarak  Binahmed  player of Muharraq Club travelled to Germany for a 4 day tryout session with Borussia Moenchengladbach U23 team preparing for the 2023/24 season. 

Dressed up in Borussia colors while participating in the different exercises and training sessions Mubarak left great impressions and  a memorable time on Eugen Polanski .

That visit was only a start of the opportunities for future cooperation between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Muharraq Club as an invitation was granted to Rainer Bonhof, representatives and organisers of the trial to visit Bahrain in December for meetings with Muharraq Club, General Sports Authority and Bahrain Footbal Association. Future cooperation between other German league teams and BFA will be established to support growth and development of Bahrain Football and the initiative of the Golden Generation under the patronage of HH Sh. Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
