Supermoon will occur on Tuesday as the full moon appears larger and brighter than usual as the moon's orbit brings it closest to Earth, known as perigee.
The term "supermoon" was first coined in 1979 and has since been used to describe a full moon that comes within at least 90 percent of perigee. Despite not being an official astronomical term, it has gained popularity over the years, sparking interest among sky gazers worldwide.
