The Ironman 70.3 Middle Eastern Championship Bahrain 2023 has just started in Reef Island with the first batch of pro men and women athletes diving into the sea to begin the 1.9km swim leg.
More than 1,600 athletes from 88 countries are taking part in this year's edition with slots for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in New Zealand up for grabs for pro athletes -- both men and women.
After the swim leg is completed, the athletes will hop on to their bikes for a 90km bicycle ride before ending the race with a 21.1km run.
