Saudi Arabia will provide a smart identity card to control access to the holy sites during Haj and clamp down on illegal pilgrims, Haj campaigns revealed yesterday.
The Nusuk card aims to enhance the efficiency of operations during Haj season to facilitate performing the rituals and reduce the number of individuals performing the pilgrimage illegally.
Saudi Haj and Umrah Ministry posted on its account on X platform that the picture and details of the new card are designed to be automatically readable to help Haj workers identify and verify the identity of each pilgrim and prevent unauthorised pilgrims from entering Mecca.
