A knee joint replacement surgery, using the VELYS robotic surgical system, was successfully performed by the Royal Medical Services (RMS) Orthopaedic Surgery Clinic.
The surgery, which the hospital described as ‘a milestone’, was held under the supervision of commander Brigadier General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
The patient had her right knee operated on using the robotic system and was already doing well about nine days later.
