This year’s Onam festivities officially began with the first Onam Sadhya (traditional Kerala feast). Bahrain is now set to witness over two months of vibrant celebrations across the Kingdom.
The program will feature a wide range of cultural activities including Pookkalam (floral carpet) competitions, Thiruvathira dance, musical shows, skits, children’s activities, and community games, bringing families and friends together in the true spirit of the festival.
The grand Onam Sadhya will showcase more than 25 authentic Kerala dishes served on traditional banana leaves — including rice, sambar, aviyal, olan, kalan, pappadam, banana chips, pickles, and a variety of payasams (traditional desserts).
