Future journalists from Gulf University (GU) gained valuable, hands-on insight into Bahrain’s dynamic media landscape during a visit to the Gulf Daily News (GDN Media) editorial offices in East Riffa.
Accompanied by their tutor and content creation programme leader Afrah Faraj, the undergraduate students from the university’s Communication and Media Technologies programme toured the newsroom as part of their assessment, aimed at deepening their practical understanding of the industry.
They were welcomed by GDN Media’s Editor-in-Chief Stanley Szecowka, who offered the group an informative session on the essentials of journalism, news reporting, editing and the physical production of the daily newspaper, as well as keeping our growing family of online subscribers and social media followers updated and informed 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.
Mr Szecowka also highlighted recent innovations at GDN Media, including the launch of the new, interactive, multi-media digital edition earlier this year, stressing the importance of embracing modern technology in news delivery.
