The IT students of grade 11 and 12 successfully organized a Seminar on Technology in Sustainable Development, focusing on how technological innovation contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event featured five student groups, each presenting innovative IT-based projects aligned with specific SDGs:Life Under Water,Sustainable Cities and Communities,Smart Water Systems ,Life on Land and Zero Hunger. Mr. Hirandas S.S., Senior Electrical Engineer at Gulf House Engineering, was the chief guest. His presence and professional insight added immense value to the seminar.
Each presentation demonstrated creativity, research, and a deep understanding of sustainability through technology. The Smart Water System presentation was especially impactful, showcasing an IoT-based solution for monitoring water quality in support of SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation. To symbolize this message, the group distributed clean water to the audience, emphasizing the importance of accessibility to safe drinking water.
The seminar was evaluated by three esteemed judges — Mr. Hirandas, Mrs. Panna, and Miss Amanda— who assessed each team’s innovation, technical understanding, and presentation skills.
The Seminar on Technology in Sustainable Development was an inspiring and educational experience. It showcased the students’ talent and awareness of how technology can be used as a force for good. The event successfully encouraged young minds to think critically, innovate responsibly, and contribute toward a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future.
