Qalali Folk Band received Aga Khan Music Award 2025 during an official ceremony held at London’s Southbank Centre, in collaboration with the EFG London Jazz Festival, which was attended by Prince Aly Muhammad Aga Khan along with prominent international cultural and artistic figures.
This prestigious award represents an international recognition of the band’s significant role in the preservation and contemporary presentation of Bahrain’s maritime musical heritage. The band earned this honour in appreciation of its decades-long journey and dedicated efforts in preserving the kingdom’s traditional musical heritage and presenting it in creative forms that attract global audiences.
Their work draws inspiration from the legacy of early Bahraini singers, including mainly Salem Al Allan, whose repertoire played a foundational role in shaping the band’s evolving artistic style.
