The ninth BKS-DC International Book Festival and Cultural Carnival was recently inaugurated at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) premises in Segaya.
The event, jointly staged by BKS and Indian publishing house DC Books, will feature nearly 100,000 books, including a specially curated children’s section.
The fair was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador Vinod Jacob.
Renowned poet and lyricist Prabha Varma, who was the guest of honour, engaged with the audience during an interactive session. DC Books international director Sidharth Ravi Dee Cee was also present.
The festivities began with the lighting of the lamp and featured a lively musical performance by a band comprising more than 80 students from the Asian School Bahrain, setting an energetic tone for the evening.
Alongside the book fair, the BKS Photography Club is showcasing a photography exhibition at the KG Baburajan Hall, which will later transition into an art and painting exhibition.
The festival will run from 9am to 11pm until Sunday with cultural programmes staged every day at 7.30 pm.
