Filipinos get digital OWWA cards processed

Filipinos in the kingdom visited the Bahrain Conference Centre at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain from January 24 to 28 to process their Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) e-Cards.

The OWWA e-Card serves as both a digital and physical ID, providing proof of active membership and, in some cases, functioning as a government-issued ID or linking to banking features through OWWA partner banks.

The card allows members to access essential programmes and services, including education and scholarship assistance, livelihood support, social and welfare services, and repatriation and reintegration aid.

Filipino expats, such as 41-year-old beauty consultant Joyce Piñuela, who has lived in the kingdom for 18 years, expressed satisfaction with the speed and efficiency of the process during the event.

She rushed to the venue after Bahrain announced that the release of the card would begin on January 24.

“It was very fast, I got my e-Card now,” said Ms Piñuela. “I will be travelling to the Philippines next month, and I am very excited to use it.”
