A heartwarming programme aimed at bringing joy to young cancer patients recently took place at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).
As part of the Bahrain Future Society for Youth’s ‘Smile’ initiative, a delegation – supported by City Centre Bahrain – visited Ward 202 of the Abdullah Khalil Kanoo Paediatric Oncology Unit.
The visit was dedicated to uplifting the spirits of children undergoing treatment, with the team presenting thoughtful gifts to brighten their day and offer comfort during their medical journey.
The initiative fostered an encouraging and welcoming setting that highlighted the importance of social solidarity and collective responsibility.
“We are pleased to contribute to organising this visit, which brought happiness to the young patients and their families,” said Society chairman Sabah Al Zayani.
“We also highly value the support of our partners and their continued presence, which strengthens our ability to carry forward our humanitarian mission and help children overcome the psychological challenges they face during their treatment journey.”
Mr Al Zayani further expressed his appreciation to the SMC medical and administrative teams and Government Hospitals for supporting the Smile project to rehabilitate and maintain the Oncology Unit. He commended all partners working alongside civil society institutions to enhance the quality of care provided to young patients.
City Centre Bahrain’s director Raymond Zaarour said the visit reflects their continued efforts to support children and their families at times when genuine human connection matters most. Launched in 2012, the ‘Smile’ initiative provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in Bahrain.
