Leisure Guide editor Julia Cassano powered her way to victory in the fifth GDN Media Boules Up Challenge Cup competition organised to celebrate National Sport Day in Bahrain.
She narrowly beat GDN Media’s deputy editor Ranjini Hariharan and GDNonline journalist Hana Lana in a thrilling final as the three had beat all-comers in a competitive contest between the newsroom and online teams.
The American expatriate follows in the female footsteps of last year’s winner Ranjini and court reporter Zainab Almahdi who won the inaugural contest.
The action took place in the sunshine on a sandy patch by the GDN tree, planted as part of the kingdom’s afforestation initiative, close to the East Riffa Press building.
Julia said: “I feel honoured to pick up such a prize trophy and I look forward to next year’s challenge.”
