Around 65 workers benefited from a charity drive organised by the Manama Rotary Club’s (RCM) youth group recently.
The Interact Club, a Rotary-sponsored service organisation for the young, and some of its members, aged 16 to 18, distributed food boxes including dry rations at a labour camp in Manama, in collaboration with a local supermarket chain.
Additionally, hygiene and cleaning items assembled by the Interactors in reusable and paper bags were given out on the same day.
Part of the funds for the campaign came from a charity padel tournament organised earlier by the young philanthropists, during which they raised BD250.
Currently, the RCM Interact Club comprises 25 volunteers from various schools, including St Christopher’s School Bahrain, the British School of Bahrain, Multinational School Bahrain and Britus International School.
The group has plans to visit a recycling company next month, in keeping with Rotary International’s commitment to the environment.
