The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, and members of the Diplomatic Corps based in London attended the annual Royal Diplomatic Reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at the Buckingham Palace last Wednesday.
The Duchess, who graced the event along with her husband Prince William, wore a floor-length velvet gown by Alexander McQueen seemingly as a tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s Travolta Dress.
The navy blue velvet dress, which the late Princess wore for a dance with Hollywood actor John Travolta in 1985, was recently brought back to Buckingham Palace.
In her velvet dress, Kate looked strikingly similar to Diana wearing the “Travolta Dress” - the notable difference being the long sleeves of Kate and the high-rise V neckline, while Diana’s outfit featured an off-shoulder detailing.
