Bahrain has announced its first novel coronavirus (Covid-19) death. A 65-year-old Bahraini woman with an underlying health condition has become the first Covid-19 fatality, said the Health Ministry.
The deceased had returned from Iran via an indirect flight last month and had not entered the general population. The woman, upon arrival to Bahrain, was placed in isolation.
The Ministry highlighted that, excluding one case, all other active Covid-19 cases remain stable and that all patients are receiving treatment from a specialised medical team following guidelines provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The Ministry of Health expressed its heartfelt condolences to the woman’s family.
