OOOh do I have some news for your movie-buffs and TV-lovers. Film and TV cameras apparently will start rolling in California as soon as June 12, as new guidelines have been approved to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus on sets.
According to a statement from the California Department of Health made to Reuters, producers will need approval from local health officials to restart filming.
Filming had stopped around the world in mid-March to help curb Covid-19. Earlier this week, a task force of Hollywood studios and labour unions proposed extensive coronavirus testing, daily symptom checks and other safeguards to allow actors and crew members to return to work.
Movie magic has already commenced in New Zealand. Its capital has come alive over the past week with Hollywood director James Cameron and his crew filming the sequel of the epic science-fiction film Avatar.
The film is among a handful of productions kicking off in New Zealand as it begins to open up after Covid-19.
New Zealand’s borders remain closed to foreigners but the government gave special permission for the 55 crew members working on the sequel to jet in on a chartered plane.
For those that may not know, New Zealand’s mountains, meadows and forests, were made famous by The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
