On September 17th, Heikedine Günther, who lives and works in Switzerland, will present her solo exhibition at Projektraum.
A selection of 20, mostly new paintings and one sculpture, will fill a space of more than 350sqm in the beautiful city of Basel.
Heikedine, drawing inspiration from the connection between abstraction and natural forms, will share with the public her works of art, including paintings, sculptures and her books.
She created most of her newest works this year during the Covid lockdown, as a way to reflect and take action.
Her artistic leitmotif is “the core”. In her works, the core has taken various forms and shapes throughout her art career.
This exhibition is showcasing mostly her new works, which she created this year in her art studio in the Swiss Alps. One of her new works is called ‘Platonic Bodies’. This series consists of 10 small scale paintings on the idea of platonic love.
Her love for philosophy and spirituality translates into her works. The exhibition will also include her new series of ‘Rock Paintings’, in which the core takes the form of a massive shape resembling pre-historic tools. The exhibition’s main and most captivating work is a diptych titled Light & Darkness. This work will explore the transitions and the tension between darkness and light.
The exhibition will be held from September 17 to 26 at Projektraum 54, a space owned by the Swiss Artist Organisation ‘Visarte’ in which Heikedine Guenther has been a member since 2019. The exhibition is also coinciding with Kunsttage Basel this year.
