Madeleine Fugate's Covid-19 memorial quilt

Madeleine Fugate, 13, created a Covid-19 memorial quilt with the aim of paying tribute to the many lives lost by the coronavirus.

The quilt is sewn together by Madeleine made up of personalized squares sent in from all over the world. Each piece of fabric represents a person or group of people who have fallen victim to Covid-19.

Each memorial square is an 8 inch by 8 inch square of fabric which Madeleine chose deliberately  because she says it represents the infinity sign and symbolises that even though the person is gone, their memory and energy will live on forever.

Every memorial square is unique in that it may include pictures of the honoree, hobbies that they enjoyed and anything that would memorialize them personally.
