An automated bag drop system and e-gates are two of many technologies that will streamline passenger experience at Bahrain International Airport (BIA)’s new passenger terminal, reports Naman Arora.
The self-bag drop system will reduce time spent by passengers in queues, minimise labour costs for airlines and provide enhanced check in capabilities, while the e-gates will verify travellers’ identities using biometrics, enabling them to move through immigration checkpoints faster, further reducing labour costs while still maintaining a high level of security.
“With its state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, BIA is now one of the most advanced airports in the region,” Bahrain Airport Company (BAC)’s acting vice president of ICT Mahmood Siddiqi said in a statement yesterday.
