The Bahrain Writers' Circle celebrates a decade

Ever since I went to that first meeting, called by Robin Barratt in February 2011, I have loved every minute of my association with this marvellous group of people. Robin's guidance, David's enormous presence and poetic heart, Claudia Hardt's dedicated promotion, Ana Corradini's lively sessions, picked up by Anita Menon, Shauna Nearing Løj, Michelle Schultz, Gunnar Gunderson and now Glen Stansfield... the names and number of people who have helped promote, popularise and personalise the BWC is an exceedingly long one. I think of Seumas Gallagher, until recently an active member and very much a 'poster person' for us. Noor Al Noaimi, who has been a dedicated member since 2013 and has gone on to become an accomplished writer. Shereen Abraham and Sara Madan, who jumped right in and assisted with all the Confluence exhibitions as well as Colours of Life.

And now we have an exciting new team running the show. They have up-to the -minute ideas and ways and means of continuing our mandate to "encourage all writers and budding writers" in Bahrain. Thanks to them as well: Saira Ranj, Melissa Nazareth, Claudia Hardt, Parvinder Kaur, Glen Stansfield and others like Darius who offer specific assistance and expertise. It is this team spirit of cooperation and a 'how-can-I-help' mindset that drives the BWC. Long may it continue, and long may the Bahrain Writers' Circle continue to nurture writers in Bahrain.
