Call for unified buildings data





A UNIFIED database of building violations could help revive stalled service projects, according to an MP.

The directory will alert developers to project violations and help them address the issues swiftly with relevant government entities, said Parliament services committee vice-chairwoman Dr Sawsan Kamal.

She pointed out that certain projects such as schools, mosques and other facilities have been delayed due to violations registered against them.

The veteran parliamentarian added that the online database will help streamline the real estate sector while ensuring services are provided to investors, developers and the community.

“Bahrain’s Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) has become an integral part of the system of services provided by the government to citizens, residents, visitors and business owners, in addition to government entities,” said Dr Kamal in a written proposal submitted to Parliament Speaker Fouzia Zainal.

“The kingdom has continued to expand and elevate the construction sector due to its importance on a social and economical level in addition to providing the community with its various needs to ensure a secure, developed and lively community.
