One of two cousins on trial for alleged drug dealing said he thought his cousin was selling coffee and not hashish.
The Saudi nationals, aged 24 and 26, appeared at the High Criminal Court where they denied smuggling drugs via King Fahad Causeway in August.
According to court documents, the cousins used their vehicle’s air filter to smuggle narcotics.
They were arrested on August 14 near a shopping mall in Manama after they agreed to sell BD800 worth of the drug to a plainclothes officer.
However, the 24-year-old claimed that his co-defendant was smuggling drugs without his knowledge.
“I honestly thought it was coffee,” he said in his statement to prosecutors.
