New infections drop by 26pc





The number of new Covid-19 infections dropped by more than 26 per cent last week.

On average, 50 new cases per day were identified between October 21 and 27, resulting in a total of 349 infections, down from last week’s 474, the Health Ministry said.

Of the 349 cases, 317 were due to local transmission while 32 were identified amongst travellers, according to the Ministry’s weekly contact tracing report.

A total of 235 Bahrainis and 114 expatriates tested positive during this period, 109 of which were close contacts of Covid-19 cases.

Ninety-five tested positive after completing quarantine, 63 after developing symptoms and 50 cases emerged as a result of random community testing.
