The annual Remembrance Day Service was commemorated this morning with multi-faith prayers and a wreath-laying ceremony at the British Embassy in Manama.
The event, which is held annually to remember British and Commonwealth servicemen and women who have given their lives in the line of duty, was attended by Bahrain’s Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, Resources & Informatics at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalil Yaqoob Al-Khayat.
The service was hosted by Britain’s ambassador Roddy Drummond and attended by other ambassadors, officials and members of the diplomatic and expatriate communities. A lone bugler signalled the start of two minutes silence by playing The Last Post.
The commemorations remember the armed forces community, British and Commonwealth veterans, the allies who fought alongside the UK and the civilian servicemen and women.
Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day or sometimes Poppy Day, is commemorated every November.
