Bahrain Covid-19 Update

Covid-19 infections in the country crossed the 5,000 mark last night, with two deaths registered, reports GDNOnline.

A total of 5,255 cases were recorded, while the two deaths took the total number of fatalities to 1,402.

There are 32,805 active cases in the country, of whom 88 are being treated in hospitals. A total of 12 patients are in intensive care.

Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Waleed Al Manea had said that the spike in coronavirus infections over the last few days was expected following the emergence of new variants in various parts of the world. He, however, urged extreme caution, adding that public awareness was vital to tackle the spread.

Bahrain recorded 3,616 infections on January 21, the highest since the outbreak of the pandemic. The cases have been rising since then crossing the 4,000 mark on Tuesday and hitting 4,876 on Wednesday.

The country has so far registered 348,655 coronavirus infections and conducted 8,666,060 tests.
