On yer bike!

It is understood that a publishing director and social media design guru was the first biker to cross the Saudi Causeway on two wheels on New Year's Day.

The secret Harley Davidson fanatic took his mean machine out of a garage at an undisclosed location near Saar and told colleagues last week that he was determined to make the trek, insiders say.

This was the first time two-wheelers have been allowed to cross the King Fahad Causeway from both sides. The King Fahad Causeway Authority has designated the far right lane for motorcycles and officials were present at the Saudi side to assist the executive.

"I just had to be first," he told friends. "There's something wonderful about having a big throbing engine between your legs, so much better than those skinny little track bikes that go round and round in silly circles.

"It's a great way to lose weight and keep fit too - you need really strong arms to ride a beast like this and it's even better than doing barbell squats!"

The British expat keeps a 'Harley appreciation certificate' close to hand at his office in Hoora which is believed to have been presented to him in the late 1990s for his regular jaunts to Amsterdam on window dressing assignments, although he declined to comment when approached by a GDNonline journalist.
