VIDEO: Stringent measures by GDN to keep virus at bay

THE GDN is taking extra measures to ensure the health and safety of all its readers.

GDN Media has produced an informative video detailing the daily printing and distribution process of the Gulf Daily News.

The video will help inform the public and readers of the print edition of the stringent sanitisation procedures in place to protect the public from any possible contamination.

Speaking on behalf of the GDN, Editor-in-Chief George Williams said: “We would like to assure our print edition readers that apart from the advice given by the World Health Organisation (WHO) – that the chances of print media carrying the coronavirus are virtually impossible – we at the GDN have introduced stringent sanitisation procedures which will ensure that your daily newspaper arrives at your door with the minimal amount of human interaction.

“Any safe handling of the newspaper by any member of our team is further enhanced by a combination of hand sanitisation, the use of masks and the use of protective gloves which have also been carefully treated.”

The whole printing process is effectively 90 per cent automated with minimal human interaction, added Al Hilal Group Managing Director Ronnie Middleton.

“Today, almost 80 per cent of our subscribers are either home or corporate subscriptions to our print edition which automatically gives them complete access to our online digital editions, website and social media platforms,” he said.

“We have had an unprecedented uplift in the number of online readers who access our various digital platforms and this has led to an increase in online subscribers over the past month.

“Today, we estimate that GDN Media through the print and online editions as well as our various social media platforms reaches over 400,000 readers, followers and connections daily.

“Our recently launched app, GDNLife, is adding even more followers enabling us to offer the widest possible reach of any media in the kingdom.”

GDN Media continues to support the government’s initiatives in dealing with the current crisis through its various platforms and provides free access to all health-related news and information through GDNLife.com, Bahrain’s own social media channel.
