Traders in Manama today started to shut down their stores hours before a government order to close all non essential businesses until April 9, reports the GDN's Sandeep Singh Grewal.
The measures are to contain the spread of Covid-19.
“ We have no other option but to shut down until April 9 and hundreds of shops in Manama will be affected, “ said an Indian salesman working at a jewellery store.
Community police patrolled the area and went to different shop owners urging them to close their shops by 7pm today as part of the decision.
Hypermarkets, cold stores, bakeries, pharmacies, and banks remain open and restaurants continue to provide services via take away or delivery only.
