BAHRAIN has registered its sixth Covid-19 death, as 38 new cases were registered in the country yesterday, reports the GDN's Sandeep Singh Grewal.

This takes the total number of registered cases in Bahrain to 925, of which 380 are active, 539 have recovered and six have died.

The Health Ministry revealed that the 63-year-old Bahraini man, who died yesterday, suffered from underlying health conditions.

The ministry also said that he tested positive for the coronavirus upon his arrival in Bahrain from Iran.

“The ministry has announced the death of a 63-year-old male Bahraini national, a registered active case of coronavirus (Covid-19) who was suffering from underlying and chronic health problems,” it said in a statement.

“The deceased male, who had returned from Iran, was placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.”

All six fatalities have been registered among Bahraini nationals.

According to the ministry’s dedicated website for Covid-19, a total of 38 new cases of the coronavirus were registered in the country yesterday.

The ministry said that among yesterday’s new cases were 12 migrant workers, who were in quarantine after coming in contact with an existing case, while another eight individuals returned from abroad and the rest were from contact with existing cases in the country.

This means there are 380 active cases, of which three remain in critical condition.

The website also showed that 20 more patients were discharged from isolation and treatment facilities yesterday, taking the total number of recoveries so far to 539.

The total number of people tested for the virus to date has reached 57,681.
