PEOPLE have been warned against a phishing scam targeting Apple users’ e-mail that attempts to steal valuable information.
The General Directorate for Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security issued the warning yesterday advising people in Bahrain not to open the suspicious emails and share their personal information including credit card details.
It added the email claims their Apple ID is locked until they verify their identity by filling out a form with their details.
The email starts with “Dear Customer” or “Dear Client”, which the directorate said is a scam as Apple would not communicate in this format.
Meanwhile, the GDN has learned of another scam involving a WhatsApp message with a link claiming to be from LuLu Hypermarket and giving away coupons worth $500 during the state of emergency. However, the hypermarket said this is “fake news”.
