Former Bahrain resident dies of Covid-19 complications

A former long-time resident of Bahrain has died in the US due to complications from Covid-19, GDNonline reported.

Dr Corine Overkamp died at a long-term care facility in New Jersey.

She arrived in Bahrain in 1964 and served at the American Mission Hospital (AMH) as an Internist.

She was also an active member of the National Evangelical Church's English Language Congregation (ELC) and served the board for many years.

"She will be remembered for her Bible studies, for her involvement in the church choir as well as her outreach to the local community through her work in the hospital," said the ELC in a statement.

The Overkamp Clinic at AMH was named after her in appreciation of her long years of service at the hospital.

Dr Overkamp has also written a book, 'Transitions', in which she talks about her time in the kingdom. She left Bahrain in 1997.
