Covid-19 infections of Bahrain's frontline heroes 'lowest rate internationally'

FIFTY-NINE medical sector workers have been infected with Covid-19 in Bahrain.

This includes 33 doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals, according to Task Force for Combating Coronavirus member and Health Ministry public health director Dr Najat Abu Al Fateh.

She said that of the total number 40 have since recovered.

“We had 33 direct medical workers like doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals and 26 support staff working in cleaning, maintenance and other jobs,” she said in a statement.

“Forty of them have recovered and the remaining 19 include only three medics.

“Infections within the frontlines are of the lowest rate internationally and have been a possibility from the beginning.

“However, the infection has not transmitted amongst staff as those in contact were all from outside the medical sector due to secure equipment being used.”
