Covid-19 Update Bahrain


A total of 360 new Covid-19 cases were registered in Bahrain today, GDNonline's Reem Al Daaysi reports.

This brings the number of active cases to 2,711, with two patients remaining in a critical condition.

"To ensure the safety of all, the Health Ministry continues to increase its testing capacity, carrying out 6,587 Covid-19 tests within the past 24 hours," stated the ministry on its official Twitter account.

According to the latest statistics, 239 of the active cases were among expatriate workers and 91 cases were contacts of active cases. The remaining cases were unspecified.

Meanwhile, 27 more people have been discharged raising the number of those recovered and allowed home to 2,055. To date 178,353 tests have been conducted.

    Why, with all the precautionary measures enforced by the government since February, are the numbers of positive cases still going up? Other countries with strict measures are seeing a levelling off, or a decrease in number of positives.
