Covid-19 Update Bahrain

Bahrain has registered its 14th Covid-19 death as 33 new cases of the coronavirus were recorded yesterday.

The deceased was a 44-year-old male expatriate, announced the Health Ministry, adding that he had been placed in isolation and had been receiving extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.

The total number of active cases now stands at 4,404. Twenty-six of the active cases were receiving treatment, the ministry added, and eight patients remain in a critical condition.

It also reported 166 recoveries, taking the total number of people who have left quarantine and treatment facilities to 4,753.

The ministry last night said they have temporarily reduced testing capacity from 6,000 to 3,000 per day.

It said this was in line with international best practice that requires sterilisation of laboratories designated for Covid-19 testing.
