Battling baby Georgia Beverly Young will undergo lifesaving heart surgery today after the community, friends and supporters rallied round to send her by air ambulance to India’s Chennai.
The surgery will be long and complex. Her parents, Rory and Charmaine Young, remain full of hope and have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the people of Bahrain.
“All-in-all the surgery will take close to nine hours. Please keep Georgia in your thoughts,” said Mr Young who teaches golf at Awali Golf Club (AGC).
The GDN previously reported that Georgia has been born with a Type B interrupted aortic arch, a rare and serious condition requiring open heart surgery to insert a synthetic connection from the ascending to descending parts of the aorta.
Along with the defected aorta, she also needs a sub aortic membrane repair, ventricle septal defect closure and a mitral valve repair for tiny holes in her heart.
